Units in Caves are the characters or creatures that can perform actions. They either aid or stand in the way of the player's progression

Units are categorized into 8 races, Undead, Goblinoids, Guardians, Robots, Mutants, Demons, Beasts and Neutrals.

Units can drop items upon death, sometimes they might also drop their equipment and weapons. Item drop can depend on luck and difficulty.

Units have a common point in combat pattern. The units near and with a passable way towards the target have a chance to notice the target and then start move towards the target. The closer the distance, the higher the noticing chance. Once the target is in their attack range, units perform actions instead of further moving close towards the target. Ranged Units move away from their enemies when the clips/magazines are empty until reloading finishes. Units can run out of ammo, but slowly regenerate it over time. Units stop chasing their target when the distance between two is too long (~20 tiles).

Elites

Elites are units with superior stats, weapons and abilities compared to non-elite units. Elites often drop Healing potions, weapons and some notable loot upon death. The upgraded Enemy Detection Sensor flashes red when an elite is within its radius.

The amount of elites can be increased with the "more elites" option when starting a new journey. Activating this option increases experience earned by 10%.

Undead

This category consists of skeletons. Most units here appear in regular caves.
