What are Modules?

Modules grant special effects to armors(character) which are only effective in one run, i.e. until the permadeath of the character.

How to ues Modules?

Modules can be installed to the armor at the Installer which locates at the left of the Shelter, using emeralds.

Modules can be upgraded at the Factory which locates in the center of the Shelter, using emeralds.

Players need to install modules every time they start a new journey, upgrading only improves the effects of the modules.

How to spend my emeralds on them wisely?

Despite that modules only provide mild helps at the start of a new game file, they can be very useful after a moderate extent of upgrading and are necessary if one would like to reach deep locations.

For a completely new player or new game file, you might first stay away from upgrading and installing modules. Using Modules can drain your emeralds as you would die a lot at the beginning. Sweeping the floors for golds and emeralds would be your initial target. After saving up some emeralds and figuring out your own play style, you may upgrade the modules which fit your play style! Remember to spare some emeralds for installation.

Always examine which modules and how much they help. Then decide whether to adjust the play style, continue investing, spend your emeralds on another module or purely upgrade Ability/something other than modules. It is desired to make sure every run can at least give you 44+ emeralds.

After certain level of upgrades, further upgrading some modules may not bring obvious advantages.

Modules Details

Shock Barrier

  • Installation Cost: 8 emeralds
  • When the character is attacked by an enemies on adjacent tile, automatically deals electric damage to the enemy
  • The damage depends on:
    • the energy of the Shock Barrier which refills over time, and
    • the upgrades of this module
  • If enemies attack with Teleport Strike, Shock Barrier still functions
  • If enemies deals 0 damage, Shock Barrier still functions
  • If character dodges or blocks the attacks, Shock Barrier will not be triggered

Impulse Converter

  • Installation Cost: 10 emeralds
  • Generates energy that equals to a percentage of damage the character receives
  • Upgrading increases the percentage
  • Maximum 100%, meaning 1 health lost grants 1 energy

Extended Battery Capacity

  • Installation Cost: 10 emeralds
  • Increases the cap of energy
  • Initial: +20 to the cap of energy

Enemies Detection Sensor

  • Installation Cost: 4 emeralds
  • Initial: Lv.1 Detects enemies within 5 tiles
  • Maximum: Lv.2 Sensor blinks if a special enemy is detected
  • When installed, the Sensor is shown next to the Energy bar. Tapping it tells you the exact number of enemies within 5 tiles.
  • Color of the Sensor changes according to number of enemies detected
  • In most cases, invisible enemies can be detected

Ores Detection Sensor

  • Installation Cost: 6 emeralds
  • Initial: Lv.1 Detects ores within 3 tiles
  • Maximum: Lv.2 Detects ores within 4 tiles
  • When installed, the Sensor is shown next to the Energy bar.
  • Color of the Sensor changes according to the closest ores detected:
    • Gold ore: yellow
    • Emerald ore: green
    • Treasure: Brown
  • At equal distance between an ore and a treasure, the Sensor shows the color of the ore instead of brown.

  • Enlarges the Inventory by 15 slots
  • No upgrades.
